Community service and philanthropy are a big part of our camp culture. Each year all groups, staff, families and alumni are involved. This year was no different; in fact, The LITs of 2018 and the Dorm Girls of 2017 volunteered last month at SCOPE’s Junior Leadership Council (JLC) event. The JLC meets several times a year to help foster individual and group efforts to raise funds and spread awareness of SCOPE.
As you may know, SCOPE is a national charitable organization that helps send underserved children to non-profit summer camps. As a committee chair on the Associate Board of SCOPE, I can tell you how proud I am when there is a large Towanda presence at these events. I know how much of a positive impact camp has on the Towanda campers and knowing that they feel the desire to spread the gift of camp is a powerful inspiration. At our recent Associate Board meeting, we were shared these letters written by SCOPE campers. The impact of camp is an amazing opportunity and we are always looking for more people to get involved with the JLC or other events. It doesn’t matter where you live, just let me know….
