SCOPE 2018

by Arielle Bloom (LIT 2018)

Scope stands for; Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education. This is an organization that ra ises money to help send underprivileged children to summer camp. On April 12th scope held a benefit dinner in New York City to raise money and honor big supporters of the organization. Many different camps were represented including Towanda as Mitch is the president of the scope board. We were lucky to have two speakers who were recipients of camp scholarships through Scope. They spoke about how thankful they were toward the organization and all the people who helped give them the opportunity of a lifetime. To me, hearing these speeches was very heartwarming and inspired me to become more active with the organization. For kids like us, who are fortunate enough to go to Towanda summer after summer, I felt very connected to the Scope mission and I’m so proud that our camp director is the president of the board of such and amazing charity. This year, the JLC, Junior League Committee, raised $9,000 from selling raffle tickets throughout the evening. We proudly sent around 7 underprivileged, well deserved kids to camp. There are many ways to get involved and become part of the scope community. This organization is something we can all relate to and would be proud to be a part of.
