As I sit here writing this review and reflecting on the Summer, I am amazed at what we managed to accomplish in such a short space of time down at the Towanda Field house! During orientation week while we were planning everything for our productions the returning staff members smiled knowingly as I tried to explain to our new staff just what we did here and that it IS possible to put on three productions in only 7 weeks in amongst all the other fabulous activities that go on throughout the summer here at Towanda.
We really have an amazing team who worked so well together to produce fantastic shows that we are all really proud of.
Upper Camp were a pleasure to work with, enthusiastic and dedicated in learning their lines. It’s never easy to get up on a stage and perform in front of a large crowd and they rocked it! Having fun is the number one goal and the huge sense of achievement felt by all was amazing. To have so many campers involved in footloose was great. The drama team are very proud of you all.
Lower camp’s performance in Beauty and the Beast truly was magnificent. A lot of hard work went into the costumes, backdrops and props (thankfully we had a little more time to put this one together). The audience participation was outstanding! The delight on our youngest campers faces when they received a standing ovation during ‘Be Our Guest’ and a few more times throughout the show was such a pleasure to see. The beaming smiles spoke volumes (I may even have cried a little at parts but sshhh! Don’t tell anyone).
With very little rehearsal, but lots of enthusiasm, the staff presented Snow White and the Seven Counselors. It was a huge hit! The talent and commitment our staff put into their performance was unparalleled. I can’t thank those enough who participated!
Our talent shows over the course of the Summer were impressive! We have so many talented campers and staff members. From playing the saxophone, piano and drums to singing and dancing. Towanda’s Got Talent!!!
Thank you again Towanda for all the memories! Now, what shows should we do next year? Have a wonderful year everyone and see you back on the field house stage in 2018.
Yours in Theater
